Brother Charlie Morgan Smith, Jr. was born on September 24, 1956 in Shreveport, LA to the late Deacon Charlie Morgan Smith, Sr. and Mary Ann Clark Smith of Frierson, LA. On Thursday, June 27, 2019 the Lord opened His arms and His Heavenly Gates and welcomed Brother Charlie to eternal rest after a long illness.

Charlie accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He was a member of Mount Mariah Baptist Church. Charlie Jr. graduated from Second Ward High School. Charlie Jr. followed in his fathers footsteps by working in the construction field for 20 years. Charlie Jr. was a great father , grandfather, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend.

Charlie Jr. was well known for his famous homemade Peanut Butter cookies, homemade cornbread, jamming the oldies but goodies, all his many phrases “ I guess, I spect, I reckon”, and loving on his family and friends whenever possible
Charlies Jr. is proceeded in death by his parents Deacon Charlie M. Smith, Sr., Sister Mary Ann Clark Smith, brothers Joe L. Smith, Robert J. Smith, Elbert J. Smith, and sister Katie M. Sherman. He leaves to cherish one daughter, Sherri K, Hughes and eight grandchildren, Patricia S. Hughes, Katrina D. Hughes, Tyrone D. Hughes, Kenya O. East, Jakayla A. Hughes, Ke’riona M. Hughes, La’Shai F. Hughes and Klaye E. Hughes all of Dallas. He also leaves to cherish three brothers Lonnie Smith (Carolyn) of Shreveport, Roy Smith of Shreveport and Albert Smith (Mildred) of Dallas and one sister Birdie (C. Byrd) of Shreveport. He leaves many cherished memories with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
